Yamaha YZF R6 - Road Test / Review

Nominated for implementing MotoGP features never before found in a mass-produced street model. If our engineering award were based solely on high-tech componentry, the R6 would be the winner hands down. While the 600 supersport class is intended as much for the racetrack as the street, the techno level of the R6 is still amazing. An engine that pumps out over 130 bhp with ram air induction and a 17,500 rpm redline, a fl y-by-wire electronic throttle system, titanium valves, an adjustable back-torque limiting (slipper) clutch, EXUP exhaust power valve and twin-injector electronic fuel injection. Whew! First ride evaluations report the performance of the new R6 to be staggering.

2006 yamaha YZF R6 - chosen as best new engineered bike of 2006

CHOSEN AS BEST NEW ENGINEERED BIKE OF 2006 This is one of the most technologically advanced production motorcycles ever built by any major manufacturer, a very narrowly focused racer replica with a mission statement of competition preeminence in road racings most highly competitive Supersport division. It incorporates more Grand Prix technology from the MotoGP development programs than any competitor has to offer to date. The new YZF-R6 has significantly raised the bar in Supersport competition. Will it easily champion the 600 supersport class of 06? Well have to wait until Daytona in March to know for sure.
