The Lotus Europa S follows the core Lotus philosophy of performance
The Lotus Europa S follows the core Lotus philosophy of performance
through light weight enabling this refined and very high performing GT car
to weigh just 995 kg. This low weight has been obtained through the clever
use of advanced and high tech materials including an extruded and bonded
aluminium chassis, composite body panels and a very advanced composite
energy absorbing front crash structure.
When compared to the award winning Lotus Elise, the Europa S has a
larger boot / luggage compartment and easier cabin access, resulting from
lower chassis sides and a higher roof line. Coupled with luxuries such as
full leather interior, driver and passenger airbags and carpets all as
standard, Lotus has created a Business Class driving experience.
However, the Europa S is not a derivative of the Elise or the Exige
and has been allocated a separate Lotus type number of Type 121 - the Elise
and Exige are both Type 111.
The new mid-engined coupe will deliver high levels of performance
from a high torque (263 Nm or 194 lbft at 4200 rpm) 2.0-litre turbo engine
producing 149 kW (200 hp or 203 PS) at 5400rpm. The Lotus Europa S achieves
around 90% of its maximum torque at only 2000 rpm to give super car levels
of acceleration from low engine speeds, propelling the car from 0 -96 km/h
(60 mph) in around 5.5 seconds, and 160 km/h (100 mph) in around 14 seconds.
Maximum speed is approximately 225 km/h (140 mph). Being a Lotus, the Europa
S has a phenomenal power to weight ratio of 201 hp / tonne (204 PS / tonne

The new Lotus Europa S, a Grand Tourer (GT) inspired two-seater will
provide Lotus customers with a spectacular sportscar with significantly
enhanced levels of touring and cruising capability. It will provide drivers

BMW Z4 M Roadster
BMW Z4 M Roadster races in to lead high-performance sportscar market.
BMW will redefine the benchmark for two-seater soft-top sportscars when the much-anticipated Z4 M Roadster arrives in Australia early next year.
It uses the world-renowned 3.2-litre straight-six powerhouse previously seen in the E46 BMW M3 Coupé and Convertible.
Voted the World’s Best Engine in its class five years in a row at the international “Engine Oscars”, the 252 kW and 365 Nm straight-six M3 engine rockets the two-seater Z4 M Roadster to 100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds, and on to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

HARTGE H50 V10 based on BMW 3 Series Saloon
The first thing that strikes you is the two-tone paint work, the special air-outlets on the bonnet and wings, as well as the HARTGE front-spoiler lip and the HARTGE rear spoiler. The 3 series BMW from the Saarland – to be more exact, the HARTGE H50 V10 – is a masterwork in many ways and not all of them visual. In particular, the HARTGE engineers and mechanics have achieved something very special under the thermodynamically optimised bonnet. Fitted with a modified M5 V10 engine, a 7-speed SMG gear box and the HARTGE modification to raise maximum speed from the electronically limited 250 km/h to 320 km/h, the H50 V10 puts all its power – 550 bhp (410 kW) and torque of 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) – onto the tarmac via a reinforced rear axle and a special suspension setup that is adjustable in terms of both rebound and compression.

Made-in-India BMWs to roll out next week: BMW 3 series from the new assembly plant, reports D Govardan in Chennai.
It will initially roll out the BMW 3 series from the new assembly plant, reports D Govardan in Chennai. BMW’s plant has come up in Mahindra Global City, about 40 km south off Chennai.
The company has initially invested close to $26 million or Rs 110 crore in the plant, which will be used to assemble completely knocked down (CKD) kits, imported from Europe. It is expected to provide direct employment to about 200 people.
“Trial productions have started since the third week of February and cars have been rolled out to achieve stabilisation of assembly process. To begin with, the company intends to roll out six cars a day,” company sources told ET.
“At present, well over 90% of the components, except for seats and few other parts, are imported as part of the CKD kits. However, this is expected to be gradually reduced,” the sources added. Meanwhile, the company has also expanded and strengthened its dealership network in time for the roll out from India.
